| ( 06.03.05 + 1:07 pm ) a letter to scott Scott, One of the few books I brought with me to Germany on my summer reading list was "The Prophet" by Kahilil Gibran. I think you have mentioned it before, so I will write about the book as if you had read it. The most meaningful section of the book to me, at this point in my life, is LOVE. He writes: "For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you." He writes: "And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course." I like these thoughts. Love is not what the Romantic poets led us to believe it was. Love has an imbalanced isotope or something (I tried to say something sciencey for you, and look what happened)- it is radioactive and intolerable and inconvenient and lots of other things and everything. "Love Love Love" by the Mountain Goats off their new album talks about this too. I was talking about Chris with my friend Molly. She said something I hadn't found words for yet: "he gave up on you." He did, like so many others, and that's what hurts the most. Someday I will find someone who won't give up on me, right? I just hope I love him as much as I do Chris. your bff,
